Job Description: The City of Abbotsford’s Waterworks division is seeking self-motivated, hard-working individuals to join their dynamic team in the Utility Person (Water) position.
Duties: As a Utility Person (Water) you will support the repair, maintenance and construction of Waterworks infrastructure. Responsibilities include checking and inspecting, servicing, maintaining and performing repairs on water meters, valves, hydrants, ground water supply facilities, reservoirs, booster stations, pressure reducing stations and related waterworks appurtenances and fittings, both in the field and at pumping facilities.

Thorough knowledge of the principles of waterworks infrastructure repair, maintenance and construction along with Considerable knowledge of waterworks distribution systems, including mechanical and control systems required to operate and maintain water pumping and storage facilities will make you an asset to the team. You must have the ability to maintain accurate records and inventories and prepare written and verbal reports as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, your colleagues and contractors.
Educational Requirements: To be considered for this position you must have:

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• EOCP Water Distribution Level I Certification.
• Completion of post-secondary courses in waterworks from a recognized institution.
• One year of experience in waterworks.
• A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License
• Ability to obtain a Class 3 Driver's License if operationally required.
Salary: This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $28.81-$33.90.
