Job Description: The City of Abbotsford’s Operations department is seeking an experienced tradesperson to join their dynamic team as a temporary full time Trades II – HVAC Technician for approximately 6 months and may be shortened or extended pending the return of the incumbent.

As an integral member of the Facility Maintenance team, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of building mechanical systems including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) in the City’s facilities.
Duties: Working knowledge of the regulations and codes, standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the trade is essential to this position as you prepare estimates of labour and materials, and determine the method of installation or repair upon receiving an assignment. You will be knowledgeable of proper safety practices and the demonstrated ability to work in a manner that recognizes personal safety and the safety of others.

Your technical experience and knowledge, along with your time management and organization skills will make you an asset to the team.
Educational Requirements: As the ideal candidate you have:
• Completion of Grade 12;
• Current British Columbia Trades Qualification (HVAC);
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the trade, including pneumatic and direct digital control experience;
• Valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s licence.
Salary: This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $34.75 to $40.85 per hour.
