Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Utilities Planning Engineer (one position total from #24-E004 and #24-E005) to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division. Reporting to the Senior Utilities Engineer, in this Exempt position you will be accountable for long range planning and budgeting of municipal water and sewer infrastructure. The Utilities Planning Engineer manages capital projects and ensures that planned capital and development related works are consistent with future utility needs.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will plan and organize the collection of data, develop and calibrate computer models of water and sewer systems, and make recommendations for future capital programs. You will manage the Water and Sanitary Master Plans and Engineering Servicing Plans, prepare the long range capital utility budgets and update the Development Cost Charge bylaws for roads, water, sewer and drainage facilities. The Utilities Planning Engineer responds to enquiries and provides technical advice to staff on engineering matters including, costs and feasibility of servicing new areas and water system flows throughout the municipality.

Qualifications
Your education will include a degree related to the work and professional designation plus a minimum of five years work related experience with progressively more responsibilities, and municipal experience. With strong written, interpersonal communication and project managements skills, you have the ability to provide advice and direction on water supply and distribution, sewage collection and drainage. You have knowledge of the Municipal Act, regulations, policies, procedures and bylaws.

Required Certifications/Licenses
Candidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application.
• BC Class 5 (full privilege) Driver’s License. You must include with your application a current Personal Driving Record (select the 5-year option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date. To obtain a copy of your Personal Driving Record, please contact ICBC directly or the driving authority where you reside. Please note that a copy of your Driver’s License and the Driver Factor Report will not be accepted.
• Eligibility or registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia
