Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Trades II - Plumber to join our team of professionals in the Facilities Division, Facilities Operations and Maintenance Department. Reporting to the Supervisor, Mechanical Systems in this unionized position, you will perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on water, drainage, heating and ventilation equipment and may supervise the work of one or more staff engaged in tasks and exercise considerable independent judgement and action in dealing with technical work problems and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
• Performs skilled plumbing tasks in installing piping, fitting, tanks and valves in water systems and hot water
systems
• Maintains and repairs plumbing, heating, ventilation, gas, fire protection and site drainage
• Coordinates and oversees the work of contractors, ensuring that work is in compliance with established
standards and specifications
• Performs related facilities maintenance work as required
• Ability to maintain records, estimate materials required and requisition parts and materials as required
• Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, rough drafts and to follow instructions

Qualifications
• Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by technical courses related to the work. Completion of a plumbing
apprenticeship and considerable plumbing, gas fitting and/or watermain training and experience at the
journeyman level
• Thorough knowledge of standard methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the plumbing
and gas fitting trade
• Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade
• Ability to maintain records, estimate materials required and requisition parts and materials as required
• Knowledge and work history with commercial heating, ventilation and digital controls considered an asset
• Certification or eligibility for certification as an A.W.W.A. cross connection control (CCC) tester considered an
asset
• Security Clearance for work at RCMP Buildings is required (note - not required as part of the application
process, however, will be required upon consideration for employment)

Required Certifications/Licenses
Candidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting
closes) and these must be attached with your application.
• BC Class 5 (full privilege) Driver’s License. You must include with your application a current Personal Driving
Record (select the 5-year option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing
date. To obtain a copy of your Personal Driving Record, please contact ICBC directly or the driving authority
where you reside. Please note that a copy of your Driver’s License and the Driver. Factor Report will not be
accepted.
• BC Certificate of Qualification as Journeyman Plumber. Plumbing Certificate and Gas Certificate for the
Province of British Columbia
