Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx. February 26, 2024 – February 28, 2025) Clerk III to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Engineering Administration and Business Support Department. Reporting to the Manager, Administration and Business Services, and working out of the cemetery main office, in this unionized position you will perform a variety of moderately complex work requiring considerable knowledge of the departmental functions, procedures and policies. This position will appeal to dedicated and caring individuals who have the ability to multi-task and are committed to helping families memorialize their loved ones at one of the Township’s three civic cemeteries.

Responsibilities
• Provides assistance to the public in explaining and presenting interment and memorialization options, which may include working outdoors
• Assists the public and funeral homes in the scheduling of burials and installation of memorials
• Processes all necessary forms and related financial transactions related to the work
• Maintains detailed cemetery records utilizing relevant software
• Interprets cemetery legislation (bylaws, acts, etc.) to ensure that cemetery services are provided within the framework of relevant regulations
• Provides excellent customer service while potentially working with grieving individuals and families that have recently lost a family member or friend
• Performs related work as assigned

Qualifications
• Completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by commercial courses. Considerable related experience preferably as a Clerk II or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• Sound knowledge of modern business office practices and procedures
• Sound knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic
• Ability to work under pressure at times and function effectively while dealing with contentious matters
