This is a seasonal position for the duration of our Summer Camps, up to 40 Hours a week dependent on program registration. The term of the position is 10 weeks, beginning June 24, 2024 and ending Aug 30, 2024. The purpose of this position is to provide high quality summer camp opportunities for children in our community. In this role the Summer Camp Leader works with the Community Recreation Programmer & Summer Camp Supervisor to create a supportive, fun and inclusive camp experience for all participants. Duties: Duties: • Oversee all aspects of camp activities • Hands on leader in camps, leading games, activities and crafts • Provide a safe & supportive environment for participants • Work with staff, parents, and caregivers to provide service excellence • Communicate with Community Recreation Programmer and Summer Camp supervisor on daily basis • Works together with the rest of the camp team in: o Planning of activities, themes, and out trips o Promotions and events o Planning & organizing of supplies, camp forms o Dealing with customer service complaints and suggestions Educational Requirements: Qualifications: • Standard First Aid or Emergency First Aid and CPR C with AED certification • BCRPA High5 Certification • Previous day camp or recreation experience an asset • Preference may be given to current post-secondary students Skill Requirements: Core Characteristics: • Outstanding leadership and customer service skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a culturally diverse community setting • Effective communication skills & positive attitude Salary: Rate of Pay: $22.80 hourly + 4% in lieu of benefits Additional Information: The applicant/incumbent will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening in order to work in this position and must report to their Manager if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.
