Job Description: The City of Abbotsford is currently offering an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and driven professional Project Manager to join our Project Management Division. The Project Management Division of the Engineering and Regional Utilities Department is responsible for delivering capital projects and programs/initiatives to help achieve Council’s vision for the City “…to be the Hub of the Fraser Valley.”
Duties: With a primary focus on delivering projects within the scope of the Parks, Recreation and Culture department, the Project Manager’s responsibilities are coordinating and administering the design, tender, construction and post-construction phases of capital projects related to City parks, trails, and other strategic capital and infrastructure related projects. The project team is responsible for integrating and delivering projects identified in the City’s five year Financial Plan, taking care of cost sharing processes and providing assistance, direction and clarification of project intent to internal and external stakeholders. The Project Manager works closely with Parks Planning and Operations and other key internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition from the planning stage to the commissioning of the completed projects.

You are a strategic thinker and problem solver with sound judgement and an ability to manage multi-disciplinary design and construction teams. You have experience managing multiple priorities with competing schedules, with the ability to move projects forward in a multi-stakeholder environment. Your strong communication, interpersonal skills and collaborative approach allow you to build credible and trusted relationships at all levels throughout the organization and City and negotiate complex issues with trades, consultants and developers in the best interest of the department(s), City and taxpayers.
Educational Requirements: In addition to the above, as the ideal candidate you will have:

•Proven ability to maintain accurate budgets while resolving variances within approved capital budgets
•Ability to review design and construction drawings and communicate revisions or scope change
•Solid understanding and ability to apply Project Management Principles to various types of projects
•Solid understanding of and experience with the management of CCDC and MMCD contracts
•Registration as a Professional Landscape Architect, Architect or Engineer
•Five years of experience in the field of Project Management, with demonstrated experience and industry specific knowledge in park, trail and urban landscape development
Salary: The salary range for this position is $113,968 - $134,479 per year.
