The Township of Langley is currently recruiting a regular full-time Supervisor ??? Sportsfields to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Parks Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Parks Operations, in this unionized position you will perform administrative and supervisory work of a technical nature in the operations of sportsfields throughout the community.

Responsibilities:
??? Plan, assign, review and supervise the work of crews and ensure safe work practices and environment according to regulations
??? Inspect work progress to ensure appropriate procedures and equipment operating guidelines are met
??? Review drawings and contract documents, ensure permits are in order and track project costs
??? Assist in budget preparation, develop and implement new or improved work methods/procedures and research new maintenance and irrigation technologies
??? Identify employee training needs, prepare employee meeting presentations and participate in recruitment and performance evaluations
??? Perform related work as required

Qualifications:
??? Degree in turf management or a diploma in horticulture with a turf grass designation, plus sound related experience in natural grass and synthetic sportsfield management, including supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
??? Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, procedures and materials, tools and equipment used
??? Considerable knowledge of the principles and the operation of natural grass and synthetic turf equipment and the maintenance of this equipment
??? Ability to plan, assign, coordinate, supervise, review and participate in the work of crews engaged in the maintenance of natural grass and synthetic turf
??? Ability to prepare budget estimates, monitor costs, identify and explain cost overruns
??? Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a Police Information Check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $36.90 - $39.40 per hour (2020 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are eight hours per day, 40 hours per week. Non-standard hours and non-standard work week.
