Job Description: The District of Mission is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented individual to work on an auxiliary (on-call) basis as Property Control Coordinator (exhibit custodian) at the Mission RCMP Detachment to supplement the regular staff and to provide vacation relief.
Duties: The role of the exhibit custodian is critical in ensuring the proper management of evidence which can be presented in a legal proceeding. The custodian is responsible for ensuring the appropriate application of physical controls, the accuracy of exhibit record keeping and compliance to policy.

Employees in this position are responsible for the receipt, safekeeping, storage and security, maintenance, verification, sorting, transport, control of movement, release, destruction and disposal of a variety of exhibits in accordance with known policies and procedures. You will arrange for and process the storage and destruction of drugs (including synthetic opioids) and bio-hazardous materials including the loading, transportation and the witnessing of their destruction. You will also respond to inquiries from police officers, government agencies, the public, legal firm agencies, courts and crown counsel relating to exhibits. You will also handle, verify, store and coordinate the destruction of weapons and firearms under the Canadian Firearms Act, along with other related duties to the position.
Educational Requirements: High school graduation.
Skill Requirements: We are looking for an individual who has previous experience working in a police environment in the same or similar position using a variety of RCMP/police computer applications including CPIC and PRIME.
Salary: The 2021 hourly rate of pay for this position is $34.65 plus 4.4% in lieu of all benefits which increases to 12.4% following completion of the probationary period.
Additional Information: Candidates must currently possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain RCMP enhanced reliability clearance.

Auxiliary employees must be flexible and available to work on short notice between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. The on-call assignments vary in length from one day up to six weeks; auxiliary employees have no guarantee of regular, ongoing shifts.
