Job Description: It is no secret that the City of Surrey is growing at a rapid rate. With over 1,000 new residents a month moving into this dynamic city, the opportunities to shape city building is immense. We are looking to add two senior planning and policy positions to our team of passionate, knowledgeable, and innovative multidisciplinary professionals.

Scope
These leadership roles will be positioned in our Community Planning Division. They will work closely with our team on high-profile policy and land use planning projects, including the development of a new Official Community Plan (OCP), an update our Zoning By-Law and the development of community plans and policies.
Duties: ??? Effective project management abilities, leading inter-disciplinary teams, managing consultants and ensuring the timely coordination of strategic plans and policy processes.
??? Clear and concise professional writing skills to effectively communicate with different audiences, such as Corporate Reports for council, land use plan and policy documents and materials for public engagement.
??? Excellent interpersonal, and customer relationship expertise to engage with residents and stakeholders, including citizen associations, developers, consultants, external organizations.
??? Strong verbal communication skills to support effective and clear presentations to Council, committees meetings, public open houses, stakeholder meetings, and other public venues.
??? A positive, team-oriented outlook that can effectively lead interdisciplinary staff in a collaborative manner.
??? An innovative and create thinker that integrates multiple ideas and manages competing perspectives to support a thriving team environment.
Educational Requirements: ??? A Master's Degree in Planning with a minimum of seven (7) years' planning experience, OR a Bachelor???s Degree in Planning or a related discipline with a minimum of nine (9) years' planning experience.
??? Experience with long range or community planning, both policy and land use, is considered an asset.
??? Membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners is desirable.
