The City of Abbotsford???s Engineering department is currently seeking an experience professional to join their dynamic team as the Engineering Permits Coordinator. This opportunity is full-time on a temporary basis until return of incumbent, approximately 12-14 months.
Duties:
In this fast pace technical role, you will review and ensure Engineering Permit applications are complete, include necessary documents such as letters of credit, inter-governmental approvals, and consultant reports. In addition, you will report to the manager regarding ongoing permit activity. Applications will include excavation, reclamation, grading, drainage, erosion & sediment control, civil plans for proposed soil removal or deposit applications, highways use and excavation applications, and others. Thorough knowledge of soil removal and deposit bylaws along with sound knowledge of methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in civil construction, soil deposit and/or removal, aggregate extraction and infrastructure is essential in this position. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills as you provide guidance and information to developers, owners, architects, engineers and contractors regarding permit submission requirements and to answer questions regarding design, bylaw interpretation, permit processes and permit costs.
Educational Requirements: As the ideal candidate you will have:

??? Grade 12 diploma;
??? Diploma of Technology in Civil Engineering;
??? Two years??? experience in civil construction and inspection;
??? Valid B.C. driver's license;
??? Membership or eligibility for membership with the Applied Science and Technologists and
Technicians of B.C. as an Applied Science Technologist (AscT).
Salary: This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $37.87 to $44.55 per hour. In addition, you will receive 12% in lieu of vacation, benefits and statutory holidays.
