Job Description: The City of Abbotsford???s Human Resources department has an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join our dynamic team as the new Disability Management Advisor.

In this diverse role you will support ill and injured employees of the City and Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service by managing both Occupational and non-Occupational claims. With compassion and understanding, you will provide guidance and support to managers and employees, ensuring best practice with stay at work and return to work programs. Utilizing your excellent time management, organization and communication skills, you will work with a full spectrum of health care professionals, third party insurance carriers and WSBC to manage claims and facilitate successful returns to work.
Duties: You will play a key part in assisting managers and employees in response to Covid-19 related questions and absences. You will communicate closely with our Safety team to ensure occupational injuries are reported in a timely manner and will manage the WSBC claims process from initiation through to WCAT, as required. Ensuring adherence to Human Rights legislation, you will partner with managers to develop creative temporary and permanent work place accommodations. You will also champion wellness at the City!

This position requires an empathetic listener with excellent interpersonal skills, who is skilled in providing support and guidance. You will have a passion for continuous improvement, working to develop new and improve existing practices and processes. You will work closely with the advisory team, keeping them informed of file updates.
Educational Requirements: Our ideal candidate will have a degree in human resources, or related field, supplimented by 3-5 years of relevant disability management, claims adjudication or human resources generalist experience. Certification in Disability Management or as a Return to Work Coordinator would be considered an asset, along with workplace mental health or wellness training.
