Job Description: In partnership with Fortis BC, the City of Abbotsford???s Environmental Services Division is looking for a seasoned professional to join their growing team as the newly established Senior Technical Advisor, Building Systems. This is currently a two year term opportunity, with the possibility to be extended or transformed into a permanent position.

Reporting to the Energy and Climate Action Program Manager, this position provides technical support and acts as a subject matter expert in both community and corporate climate action matters. The successful candidate will work closely with the development and construction industry with a goal to achieve enhanced compliance for energy aspects of the B.C. Building Code and to maximize sustainability in new construction. Priorities include establishing building energy related policies, goals and objectives that would enable significant and lasting reductions in community and corporate energy use, greenhouse gas emissions as well as implementation of building energy related guidelines in various Neighbourhood Plans through the Development Permit process. Additional responsibilities include organizing stakeholder consultations, coordinating policy research, and assisting in the proper development of technical plans or specifications to implement capital projects and initiatives that have any carbon impact.

This is a challenging role requiring extensive knowledge of current commercial and residential building code requirements inclusive of ASHRAE 90.1, Energy Step Code and the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) along with considerable knowledge of provincial and federal legislation and local government processes and bylaws. The ability to engage our community and other stakeholders is essential in order to promote available utility programs and incentives. Other essential skills include advanced data analysis, research and project management.
In order to be considered for this position you must have:

??? A bachelor???s degree in building engineering, resource and environmental management, applied science, or a related professional field.
??? A minimum of four years??? directly related experience including advanced data analysis, project management, and energy modeling.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

This position is unionized, C.U.P.E Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $41.66 to $48.98.
