As a rapidly growing municipality committed to quality service and a positive work environment, the Operations Department is seeking an experienced utility operator to fill the position of Utility III Electrical Mechanical.
Duties: You will be experienced in municipal utility operations, water and sewer related, and / or have experience in a related trade such as plumbing, pipe fitting or millwright work. The successful applicant will work as part of the electrical / mechanical utilities maintenance crew assisting management to achieve an efficient operation of the City???s water and sewer infrastructure including water production wells, water storage reservoirs, water pump stations, sanitary sewer pump stations and associated facilities and equipment. In addition to your hands on experience you will have excellent interpersonal skills, you are a highly motivated individual that is goal-oriented and can work efficiently with a varied workload. You also need to be a critical thinker who is able to solve technical problems with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment issues.
Educational Requirements: Must have a minimum of Grade 12 education supplemented by courses and five (5) years experience in a variety of skills and trades such as pipe fitting, plumbing, welding, millwright work, minor electrical repairs - OR equivalent combination of training and experience;
Skill Requirements: Must be in possession of a valid B.C. Driver's License;
Must have superior knowledge of methods, practices, tools and equipment as they relate to the maintenance of mechanical, electrical equipment, controls, instrumentation, that are used throughout municipal water and wastewater systems;
Able to read and understand technical drawings as they relate to work tasks;
Able to maintain records and prepare and present reports both in oral and written format;
Able to work in wet, humid and dirty conditions while subjected to odours, fumes and gases underground in manholes and pump stations.
