The City of Abbotsford has an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator (OHSC) to join our Human Resources team. Reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health and Safety, the OHSC will be accountable for supporting and contributing to the on-going development, implementation, coordination and administration of the City???s Occupational Health and Safety Program.

The wide diversity of our City services require an energetic team player with the ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships with all City staff, industry counterparts, and external consultants.

As the OHSC you will assist in accident/incident investigations and ensure completion of corrective actions. You will research, plan, organize, and/or conduct safety training programs. You will ensure regulatory safety compliance by facilitating and overseeing workplace inspections. You will be the key point of contact for the coordination of MSDS/SDS library for controlled products and assist with action plan completion to obtain/maintain COR certification. As a safety champion your contributions will ensure City compliance with OHS regulation, legislation, policy and best practices.

As the ideal candidate you have:
??? A Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
??? Comprehensive knowledge of WorkSafeBC, OHS and other applicable safety regulations
??? Minimum 3 years??? experience in a similar role in a unionized environment, municipal experience an asset
??? Strong computer skills
??? Valid Class 5 BC Driver???s Licence and a safe driving history.
??? Strong customer service focus, superior communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
