The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Recreation Attendant II to join our team of professionals in the Parks and Recreation Division; Recreation Programs and Services Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Administration & Business Services, in this unionized position you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, and performing public contact and clerical work of a lead hand nature at municipal facilities. You will perform a variety of clerical tasks including the preparation and processing of cash receipts, registration documents, facility bookings, customer complaints, promotional and related documents and other routine tasks as required. You will provide information and assistance to the public at the counter or over the phone, ascertain the nature of the enquiry and provide direction for further follow-up as necessary. In this role you will operate a point of sale system, standard office equipment used, receive, record/reconcile payments, issue tickets or receipts as required and prepare a daily revenue report and deposit slip. The position will open up the facility during a regularly schedule shift, control the entrance, perform minor custodial and set-up duties and routinely patrol as required. The successful candidate may assume responsibility for the security of the facility in the absence of a superior.

Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures, under the general supervision of a superior who evaluates performance on the basis of accuracy and efficiency of work and services rendered to the patrons. It is essential that the ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills, is energetic and enthusiastic, is well organized plus is able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of internal and external contacts. The candidate must be able to assign, review and lead a group of subordinates and provide staff training as required.

The successful candidate has Grade 12, and sound related experience dealing with the public; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will also have experience leading and training a group of subordinates. Candidates must have the ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public under varying conditions, in person, by telephone or email, the ability to receive money and issue change accurately and promptly, and the ability to maintain clerical records related to the work. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required, and experience with CLASS and Tempest software would be a strong asset.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a police information check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $24.36 - $28.55 per hour (5 steps 2019 rates); $24.85 - $29.12 per hour (2020 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Tuesday 12:15pm ??? 8:15pm; Wednesday to Saturday 8:15am ??? 4:15pm; non-standard hours, and or non-standard work week.
