Job Description: The District of Mission is looking for a progressive and innovative individual to provide leadership and manage the operations of public works construction and maintenance functions including public works infrastructure, dykes, water distribution, storm drain and sewage collection, and municipal fleet.

As an integral part of the Engineering & Public Works management team, the Operations Manager ensures the effective and efficient operation of the department by developing and overseeing the implementation of business planning for the operations that meet the needs of the community by determining priorities and planning appropriate resource and service levels to meet operational goals.

Duties: The Operations Manager also ensures that public works operations and programs are effectively managed by assigning, directing and managing work programs, budgets, activities and procedures.

We are looking for an individual who has strong understanding of the technical nature of the work, a keen critical thinking ability, analytical and problem-solving skills and is focused on high quality outputs and results. You understand local government objectives and issues, you are proactive and forward thinking, and you have excellent interpersonal skills.
Educational Requirements: As the ideal candidate, you will have completed a post-secondary diploma or degree in Civil Technology or a related field and you have also taken recognized training in project management. A minimum of 5 years??? related experience in a municipal or regional government setting, preferably in the day-to-day operations of public works infrastructure, is necessary.
Skill Requirements: A distinguished customer service record and the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including Council, are essential for this position as is having a high degree of integrity due to exposure to highly confidential and/or politically sensitive information.
Salary: This position is excluded from the bargaining units and offers a wage rate commensurate with your qualifications and experience.
