The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Landscape Design Technician to join our team of professionals in the Community Development Division; Green Infrastructure Services Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Green Infrastructure Services, in this unionized position you will join a dynamic, creative and experienced multi-disciplinary team of professionals and be responsible for performing technical work related to municipal landscape regulation/requirement, and design, both in the office and the field. As part of the Green Infrastructure Services team, you will administer Township landscape requirements, review designs and specifications for conformance to applicable community and neighbourhood plan requirements, by-laws, policies, and conditions and You will coordinate aspects of the Municipal Street Tree & Boulevard Planting Policy through all aspects of the development review process. Development generated landscape statistics relating to trees, trails, and development types would form part of your responsibilities. The work is technical in nature and will require significant coordination with other Township departments.

Committed to the creative and innovative design of open space and sustainability in new development projects, Green Infrastructure Services is responsible for the administration, coordination, and implementation of community and neighbourhood plans, by-laws, policies, and best management practices relating to the promotion and incorporation of green infrastructure and features in new development projects. At a broad level, Green Infrastructure Services, in conjunction with other departments, administers municipal landscape and environmental requirements of land development projects relating to re-zoning, subdivision, development permit and building permit.

Your education includes graduation from a 2 year diploma program in Landscape Design, Urban Design or Landscape Architecture and a minimum of 2 years directly related experience, preferably with landscape construction experience. You have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and thorough knowledge of landscape design principles and practices, landscape construction methods and skill in the use of computerized drafting and design software is required, as well as a valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license. The successful candidate will be committed to providing excellent customer service through teamwork, communication, and responsiveness.

??? Membership or eligibility for membership in the British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $33.60 - $39.56 per hour (2019 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.
