Job Description: The District of Mission is seeking a progressive and innovative individual to plan, direct and coordinate the activities of the municipal fleet division. The fleet division services everything from small equipment such as chainsaws to large vehicles such as fire trucks.
Duties: As an integral part of the Engineering & Public Works management team, the Assistant Operations Manager ??? Fleet ensures the effective and efficient operation of the municipal fleet program by planning, scheduling, coordinating and managing the day to day operations. They ensure support is given for all District vehicles and motorized equipment by developing the program and managing the program. This includes both in-house repairs and working with sub-contractors and service providers. The work involves overseeing procurement related to fleet, preventative maintenance, emergency repair, fuel management system, insurance, licencing, inspections, and disposals, which includes continually changing priorities to reflect the current condition of the equipment.
The Assistant Operations Manager ??? Fleet also ensures that all work performed meets a high standard of quality, efficiency and customer service, and is performed in compliance with Worker???s Compensation Act and OHS Regulations and appropriate risk management practices.
Educational Requirements: The ideal candidate will have Certification as a journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic or Commercial Transport Mechanic for B.C.; or Certification from the Red Seal Interprovincial Standards Program (IP) in a closely related field; or a Certificate of Qualification (TQ) in a closely related field.
Skill Requirements: You will also have completed leadership and management courses along with recognized training in project management have a minimum of five years of related experience in a commercial fleet environment, including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Salary: This position is excluded from the bargaining units and offers a wage rate commensurate with your qualifications and experience.
