The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Technical Supervisor ??? RCMP to join our team of professionals in the Protective Services - RCMP Division, Information Technology Section.

Reporting to the Manager, Police Services, in this unionized position you will act as the project leader for the enhancement and installation of new applications and systems. You will participate in the selection of hardware/software, schedule, develop, and document procedures for implementation and conversion activities. The successful candidate will research new technologies and industry standards and make recommendations to replace or enhance existing technologies. You will assess and resolve problems related to operating systems, errors, hardware and network connectivity and refer unresolved problems to technical specialists. You will consult with users to analyze needs and recommend solutions for upgrades and prepare technical specifications and information for potential vendors. This position will review quotations, oversee the maintenance of police communications systems, wireless networks, radio and telephone systems, troubleshoot system problems, and ensure compliance with national and local policies and priorities, including security and technology solutions. The successful candidate will plan, assign and supervise the work of a small group of technical subordinates engaged in maintaining network systems establishes service levels, sets work priorities, and provide training to staff. This position will liaise with municipal information services staff, service contractors, vendors, and other agencies as required and perform other related work as required.

Your education will include a diploma in computer technology from an institute of technology with completion of specific courses related to network systems, plus considerable related experience, including some supervisor experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have thorough knowledge of the characteristics and capabilities of RCMP???s computer systems, components, and related software and will possess considerable knowledge of the communications network, operating practices and procedures as related to the work, including problem definition and solution techniques. The successful candidate will have sound knowledge of the functions of RCMP sections and the methods or policies used and will have the ability to train users in the use of hardware/software applications. The ability to prepare capital and operating budget estimates and administer approved budgets is necessary.

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must have a valid and current BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside. The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $41.29 - $48.78 per hour (5 steps, 2019 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 7:30am ??? 3:30pm; non-standard hours and or non-standard work week.
