Job Description: The Township of Langley is currently recruiting a temporary full-time (from approx. June 24, 2019 to approx. June 25, 2021) Engineering Technician to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Engineering and Constructions Services, Roads Operations, or Utilities Operations Departments.

Reporting to the Manager, in this unionized position you will prepare technical reports on engineering topics including plans, estimates, and specifications for routine construction and maintenance projects. You will perform technical work in analysis, design, calculations and documentation for minor construction projects that will involve water, sewer, drainage, electronic or electrical systems. You will prepare evaluations, schedules, invoice quantities and quality control guidelines for maintenance management. The successful candidate will conduct field investigations and inspections on minor engineering projects as required and perform related work as required. You will also perform work and asset management duties and respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders and the general public.

Your education will include graduation from an Institute of Technology with a Diploma in Civil and Structural Technology, plus related experience preferably in a Municipal setting or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have sound knowledge of engineering terminology, materials, equipment, practices and techniques, knowledge of Municipal engineering plans, specifications, contract documents and data related to the work. You will have sound knowledge of the fundamentals of budgeting and standard costing procedures as related to engineering programs and operations. You will have ability to review, analyze, assess and interpret plans, specifications, and contracts and the ability to deal effectively, and maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts. You will have the ability to prepare and maintain reports, records, correspondence and various other materials related to the work. Previous education and experience in surveying would be an asset.

The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $32.25 - $37.97 per hour (5 steps, 2019 rates), plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00am ??? 4:30pm.
