The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Facilities Superintendent to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Facilities Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities you will be responsible in this exempt position for performing complex technical work relating to a variety of facility maintenance functions and making recommendations specific to facility operations, maintenance, and financial matters. Considerable individual judgment is required to work with other Departments, performing inspections, ensuring compliance with BC Building Code, Fire Code and other regulations for a variety of Township facilities such as recreational facilities, office buildings, fire halls, etc. You will be working with internal stakeholders as well as the consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies and answering questions from the public. You will be responsible for developing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, having a good understanding of WorkSafe regulations, developing detailed work plans, ensuring work is completed within specific timelines, reporting on budgets and preparing technical reports. This positon will also oversee the trades groups (electrical, mechanical, and general facilities).

Your education will include an Engineering/Building Technologist Diploma and a minimum of 5 years directly related experience, preferably in a Municipal Government Engineering Department or a Municipal Engineering Consulting company. You must have a firm understanding of applicable policies and bylaws; occupational hazards and required safety regulations; of labour relations contracts, administration, recruitment and selection processes, as well as, supervisory experience in a Union environment; and knowledge of computer applications used in facility maintenance management. A Refrigeration Safety Awareness Certificate is an asset and will be a requirement to obtain in the first year of employment along with an Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance for the RCMP.
