The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time GIS Specialist to join our team of professionals in the Corporate Administration Division; Information Technology Department. Reporting to the Manager, Geomatics Services, you will be responsible in this unionized position for variety of technical and analytical functions related to the ongoing development and maintenance of the Geographic Information System. Exercising considerable independence of judgment and action, you will design and develop GIS applications, procedures and standards, assemble spatial and related attribute data, produce maps, reports and related information for departmental and corporate needs. In addition, you will provide recommendations regarding the development and enhancement of GIS capabilities to various municipal departments. In addition to the required technical skills, the successful applicants will work effectively in a team environment, have a strong customer service focus, strong analytical and problem solving abilities and have superior communication skills, both verbal and written. Your education will include a post diploma in Geographic Information Systems supplemented by sound related experience of a minimum 4 years, preferable in a municipal setting. Considerable knowledge of the software programs and hardware components of Geographic Information Systems is necessary. Experience with the Esri suite of products including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, Collector for ArcGIS, ArcScene, FME and Esri???s web app builder is required. Additionally experience in SQL Server, SQL, Javascript and web based development would also be an asset.
