The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (approx. September 10, 2018 to approx. September 11, 2020) Corporate Energy Manager to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Strategic Initiatives Department.
In this position you will be responsible for the reduction of energy use within the organization and in the community. You will implement the Township???s Strategic Energy Management Plan that includes energy use targets, departmental sub-targets, and associated strategies. You will develop, implement, and enforce effective conservation practices by working with facility managers to modify processes, building control settings and schedules, make recommendations to equipment selection, and identify instances of energy misuse. You will liaise with BC Hydro and ensure applicable agreements and CEM program requirements are met, investigate options for satisfying the Township of Langley???s commitment to the Climate Action Charter, including the achievement of carbon neutral operations and report progress to the province as required. Working across all departments, you will develop and present energy conservation training programs to employees and perform energy use audits of Township owned facilities and make recommendations for energy efficiency upgrades including detailed cost-benefit analysis and greenhouse gas emission reduction opportunities and develop budgets for capital improvement projects. Through the use of energy benchmarking software, you will track, measure and compare energy consumption across the Township???s building stock and investigate and introduce systems for the on-going evaluation of completed energy efficiency projects and programs and the monitoring of subsequent saving. The successful candidate will work with the Equipment and Fleet Manager to maintain the Township???s green fleet status and investigate opportunities to improve overall fleet fuel efficiency through driver training, alternative fuels and new vehicle technologies and work with partners and stakeholders to investigate opportunities for district energy systems incorporating Township of Langley facilities.

Your education will include a minimum of 5 years??? experience working in the energy management field with a diploma in energy management or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A graduate degree preferred and/ or supplemented by any of the following professional designations:

??? Registered Professional Engineer or Registered Engineering Technologist or Registered Planner or Certified Energy Manager designation (through the Association of Energy Engineers).
??? Energy efficiency training such as BC Hydro energy Manager Education Series or CIET Energy Management Training Course
??? LEED professional accreditation
??? Maintenance and management of electrical and lighting systems; BCIT
??? Maintenance and management of mechanical systems including HVAC systems and cooling plants; BOMA Building Operator e-Energy training
