The Township of Langley is currently recruiting a regular part-time Recreation Leader- Fitness to join our team of professionals in the Parks and Recreation Division; Recreation Programs and Services Department. We believe in building individuals and communities to be active and healthy for life.

Reporting to the Fitness Programmer, you will be responsible in this unionized position for assisting a supervisor in planning, developing, and scheduling specific fitness programs and drop-in services; services and special events; directing the implementation of program activities; providing leadership and instruction; assessing program results and recommending changes as necessary. You will also be responsible for assigning and supervising the work of auxiliary staff, providing orientation and training, and participating in the selection and evaluation of staff.

Your education will include completion of a two-year program in Recreation at a recognized Community College and some related community recreation experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the recreational and fitness needs and interests of the area served, and sound knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of community recreation and fitness programs is necessary. Standard First Aid with CPR C are required. BCAK Practicing Kinesiologist Certificate; BCRPA Personal Training Certification, BCRPA Group Fitness Certifications and experience working in a community recreation centre are considered assets.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $25.84 -$30.37 per hour (5 steps, 2018 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are 30 various regular part-time hours per week and non-standard hours and/or non-standard work week.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a police information check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).
