| Job Description: |
The City of Chilliwack is seeking a highly motivated and dependable individual to fill the position of Laboratory Technician ??? Water and Wastewater in the Operations Department. |
|
| Duties: |
The ideal candidate is a pro active, results focused team player who will work as part of the operations team and will be primarily responsible for monitoring wastewater quality throughout the treatment process at the WWTP. The candidate will also conduct sampling and analyses of water samples from the City's wastewater collection system and storm sewer systems as required to ensure compliance with wastewater discharge permits and other legislation as applicable.
You will take charge of the City???s wastewater testing laboratory at the City???s wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). The City of Chilliwack Waste Water Treatment Plant has a current daily average flow of 21,000m3. |

| Educational Requirements: |
Qualified individuals will have graduated from a 2 year laboratory technician, biology, microbiology, chemistry or environmental science program or other related program of a scientific nature and should have at least five years progressive experience related to laboratory methods and operations. |
|
| Skill Requirements: |
Candidates should have a sound knowledge of the principles and practices of qualitative and quantitative chemistry, mathematics, biology, microbiology and bacteriology. |
|
| Salary: |
$36.36 to $42.78 (per hour, 35 hour work week) |
