SCOPE
The City of Surrey is seeking a dynamic, collaborative and innovative Community Services Assistant at the Historic Stewart Farm, a vibrant heritage site located within Elgin Heritage Park, along the Nicomekl River. This auxiliary position is an integral part of the team that delivers high quality educational programming, special events and a one-of-a-kind heritage experience. This is an auxiliary position of approximately 10-20 hours per week, including weekends and some evenings.

RESPONSIBILITIES
???Implementation and delivery of heritage programs, special events, tours, and demonstrations at the Historic Stewart Farm and at various outreach activations.
???Provide guided tours of the historic farmhouse and other features of the site.
???Assist in research.
???Develop and implement craft and game activities and demonstrations.
???Implements cash handling procedures.
???Operates a wood stove and supports volunteer hospitality and recognition.

QUALIFICATIONS
???Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by 1 year of relevant experience in community service work or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience.
???Emergency First Aid and CPR Certificate are also required.
???A valid BC Driver???s License with a safe driving history.
???Some knowledge of cultural programs, their purpose and objectives would be beneficial.
???Foodsafe Level 1 certificate (asset).
???Have excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
???Detail oriented person able to work well with various programming timelines.
???To compliment your abilities, you are comfortable interacting with a variety of ages, cultures, individuals and groups and can handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
??? A friendly, welcoming personality and an energetic approach to programming and knowledge of heritage programs and activities makes you an ideal candidate for this position.
