The Fraser Valley Regional District manages a wide range of recreational programming, services and facilities in Hope, BC. These include the Almer Carlson Outdoor Pool, the Recreation Centre which features the Dan Sharrers Aquatic Centre, fitness and cardio rooms, and an arena. The Recreation Centre in Hope has over 57,000 visits to public swimming and skating annually. |

| Duties: |
We have an exciting opportunity for a positive and energetic person to fill the part-time position of Facility Operator I for Recreation, Culture and Airpark Services. The Facility Operator I will perform facility, janitorial and light preventive maintenance duties; set up special event recreation/facility equipment; may assist in the installation and removal of the ice surface; and assist in enforcing or independently enforcing rules and regulations within the recreation facility. We are looking for someone with excellent customer service skills and the ability to exhibit courtesy, tact and diplomacy, and remain professional in dealing with the public; as well as someone who has the ability to make decisions with considerable independence and judgement. |

| Educational Requirements: |
??? Ability to obtain a Refrigeration Safety Awareness Certificate;
??? Building Service Worker Course at a recognized vocational institute a definite asset;
|
|
| Skill Requirements: |
??? Preferably one year experience in a maintenance/janitorial environment;
??? Must possess a valid Driver???s License. |

| Salary: |
The starting wage rate for this Union position is $17.10 per hour plus 10.6% in lieu of benefits. Upon successful completion of the required probationary period the wage will increase to $19.00 per hour plus 10.6% in lieu of benefits, or if eligible, participation in the benefit program. Shift differential and overtime are paid where applicable as per the Collective Agreement. |

| Additional Information: |
The Facility Operator I must be available for shifts from four to eight hours in duration, anytime between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. and/or split shifts and temporary shifts, inclusive of evenings and weekends and some holidays.
