SCOPE
The City of Surrey???s Park Operations is looking for Park Program Assistants to lead our well-recognized park's programs, such as Park Play and others. These free, drop in programs provide children with opportunities to play outdoor games and inclusive activities in Surrey Parks and remove income and transportation barriers to recreational opportunities in the community.
The successful candidate will have an enthusiastic, high initiative approach to their work and enjoy being part of a team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
???Lead park-based games and sports-related activities in various parks in Surrey.
???Host community events and festivals throughout Surrey.
???Strive to build connections between families and Surrey???s park spaces.
???This position requires some physical work and working outside with exposure to all types of weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS
The Community Services Assistant 1 will have:
???Successful completion of Grade 12.
???Some relevant experience in community service work.
???Current Emergency First Aid and CPR certificate.
???High Five and Fundamental Movement Skills (or other Physical Literacy) certification will be considered an asset.

The Community Services Assistant 2 will have also have a valid BC Driver's License with a safe driving history.
???This position is supported by the Canada Summer Jobs Grant. This position is contingent on Federal Government Grant funding. Successful candidates must meet the criteria set forth by the grant program, including:
???Between 15 and 3 years of age at the start of employment.
???Must be current (January-April 2018) full-time student in a recognized post-secondary program.
???Planning to return to full-time studies in Fall of 2018.
