The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Community Police Office Coordinator to join our team of professionals in the Protective Services - RCMP Division; Community Policing Section.

Reporting to the Operations Support Supervisor, you will be responsible in this unionized position for coordinating the delivery of programs independently or in conjunction with main detachment staff; providing a wide variety of information and assistance to the general public in identifying and interpreting offences and infractions of Municipal, Federal or Provincial Statutes, By-Laws, Acts and Regulations, assessing reported offences and other matters over the counter and deciding the type of offence and type of investigation required. You will also liaise with various community services agencies, government bodies, R.C.M.P. members, and clients on such matters as available services, requests for subsidies, grant applications, community protocols, available community resources, and to promote awareness of the community office; conduct investigations and research and independently carries out special assignments and projects as directed.

Your education will include completion of the 12th school grade including or supplemented by related courses plus considerable related experience in the Police Department, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The successful candidate will have considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, record keeping, and of computer operation as it relates to the work; sound knowledge of the methods and practices used in directing, orienting and monitoring volunteers; and a working knowledge of the needs of various related community groups and individuals as well as the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $27.99 - $32.94 per hour (5 steps, 2018 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.
