The City of Abbotsford???s Information Technology division is looking for a seasoned Database Administrator to join their dynamic team. Reporting to the IT Applications Manager, the Database Administrator will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of the City???s corporate database systems.

In this challenging role, you will utilize your specialized knowledge to design, install, monitor and maintain database systems; develop database architecture and standards as well as research and recommend related information technology and database management system solutions. You will assess, design, and implement data integration processes between various enterprise systems using standard data manipulation and migration tools. You will liaise with client departments and applications staff on the delivery of business technology solutions; assess and develop long-term strategic goals for database systems in conjunction with data owners and department managers in addition to coordinating with departmental clients to ensure that database standards are relevant and meet business requirements. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential as you serve as a project contributor and stakeholder on various infrastructure projects while providing advice and guidance to team members regarding database systems procedures, security considerations, and best practices. Your demonstrated ability to communicate complex information to customers who may not be familiar with the topic will be beneficial as you build relationships with, and gain confidence from your stakeholders. Your strong analytical and critical thinking skills will make you an asset to the team. Thorough knowledge of the principles and techniques associated with database design and administration along with the ability to establish standards and procedures to ensure the integrity, security, availability and recovery of all data will guide your success in this position.

In order to be considered for this position you must have:

??? Bachelor???s Degree in Computer Science;
??? minimum of three years related work experience in database administration;
??? experience managing complex database environments and projects;
??? experience with relational database systems, Structured Query Language, relational data modeling and data management principles, structured analysis and design, and documentation of business requirements; and
??? an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience, such as a Diploma in Computer Information Systems and five years related experience may be considered.

Demonstrated experience in the following will be given preference:

??? Microsoft SQL Server
??? Oracle
??? SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
??? SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)


This position is unionized, C.U.P.E Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $42.54 to $50.03 per hour (2018 rates).
