The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to 5 temporary full-time (from approx. March 12, 2018 to approx. December 21, 2018) Equipment Operator II (Mowing/Turf Tractor) to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Parks Operations Department. You will be operating both pieces of equipment on a rotational basis.

Reporting to the Manager, Parks Operations, you will be responsible in this unionized position for operating, servicing and performing minor maintenance on a variety of equipment in an effective, efficient and safe manner to municipal standards. You may be required to supervise one or more subordinates performing unskilled and semi-skilled construction and maintenance duties relating to the operation of the equipment. You will plan work prior to operation of equipment; maintain record and write reports related to the work; and perform related work as required.

Your education will include completion of Grade 10 and sound related experience in the operation of turf maintenance equipment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of the methods and practices used in the safe operation of equipment, and of the methods, practices and tools used in servicing and minor maintenance; ability to understand oral and written instructions, simple sketches, plans and worksheets; prepare simple records and reports; perform manual work involving considerable physical endurance; and skill in the operation of equipment in an effective, efficient and safe manner is necessary.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a police information check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

??? BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside. The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $29.87 per hour (2018 rates) plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am ??? 4:30pm.
