The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx. March 5, 2018 to approx.
March 1, 2019) Administrative Assistant ??? Community Development to join our team of professionals in the Community Development Division; Development Services Department.

Reporting to the Business Support Manager, you will be responsible in this unionized position for relieving senior staff of routine administrative detail; researching statistical and technical information related to departmental functions; drafting of non-routine correspondence and document templates; preparing meeting agendas and transcribing minutes; as well as processing or coordinating the process of Freedom of Information requests; and undertaking special projects as required. You will also plan, assign, check and supervise the work of a moderate sized group of subordinates engaged in a variety of clerical functions; participate in hiring new staff; providing training and evaluating work performance; as well as assisting a superior in the development and implementation of corporate initiatives for the division.

Your education will include completion of grade 12 supplemented by courses in office administration and data base management plus considerable related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have thorough knowledge of modern office management methods, practices and procedures; business English, spelling and punctuation; excellent computer and communication skills; knowledge of automated and manual recordkeeping systems and considerable knowledge of departmental functions, policies, practices and procedures and of applicable bylaws, codes and related regulations. It is essential you have ability to make decisions in accordance with applicable guidelines, and to handle difficult and contentious enquiries and problems with tact and authority and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $31.62 ??? $37.23 per hour (2018 rates), plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.
