Job Description: The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) is comprised of six member municipalities and eight Electoral Areas, each containing numerous unique communities, cultures and landscapes. Discover more at www.fvrd.ca.
Duties: We are looking to recruit a dynamic individual to engage with residents and businesses to help develop environmentally sustainable behaviours such as recycling and composting. The Environmental Services Technician must be outgoing, have excellent customer service skills and demonstrate a passion to improve the region???s air, land and water. As a Full-time Union employee you will report directly to the Deputy Director of Regional Programs and assist with a range of projects that may include implementation of the region???s Solid Waste Management Plan, Air Quality Management Plan and other initiatives.
Educational Requirements: ??? A degree in Environmental Sciences or a related field with a good understanding of and preferably some experience working with environmental issues relating to the various environmental files handled by this department or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skill Requirements: ??? Knowledge of local government service delivery and municipal waste and air quality management practices is preferred, and knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures pertaining to Regional Districts, would be an asset.
??? Preferably experience in providing educational information and assistance to the general public to achieve sustainable practices.
??? Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly, and converse with a wide range of people including technical consultants, elected officials, staff, and the general public.
??? Excellent writing skills, with the ability to write in a clear and concise manner.
??? Must be in possession of a valid Driver???s Licence.
Salary: The wage rate for this bargaining unit position is $25.80 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package. Upon successful completion of the required six month probationary period the wage will increase to $30.35 per hour.
