The City of Abbotsford???s Finance and Corporate Services department is looking for a seasoned professional to join their dynamic team as the Internal Controls & Special Projects Accountant. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Systems and Disbursements, you will be responsible for the independent review and analysis of internal controls and various special and confidential projects.

In this challenging role, you will utilize your specialized knowledge by performing internal audit functions, making recommendations and implementing required changes. You will act as liaison between the Finance team and other internal and external stakeholders; review processes and procedures, and assist in the resolution of service problems and issues. Additional responsibilities include: research and analysis of revenue and expenditure sources, identifying existing issues, and providing solutions for long-term financial planning.

Strong communication and presentation skills are beneficial as you make presentations to management about procedures and work performed on complex projects. Your demonstrated ability to communicate complex information to those who may not be familiar with the topic will be beneficial as you build relationships with, and answer inquiries from, internal and external stakeholders. Your strong analytical and critical thinking skills will make you an asset to the team. Thorough knowledge of processes and procedures related to accounting and internal controls along with strong systems experience and ability to work with large financial systems, generate reports and analyze data will guide your success in this position.

In order to be considered for this position you must have:

??? a Bachelor???s Degree in Accounting or related discipline;
??? Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation or equivalent; and
??? a minimum of four (4) years accounting experience, including two (2) years working on complex finance-related projects.

This position is unionized, C.U.P.E Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $37.84 to $44.54 per hour (2018 rates).
