The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx. February 12, 2018 to approx. March 29, 2019) Victim Support Worker to join our team of professionals in the Protective Services - RCMP Division; Client Support and Victim Services Section.

Reporting to the Manager, Client Support and Victim Services, you will be responsible in this unionized position for crisis intervention services, while providing emotional support to victims and witnesses of crime and trauma. You will inform clients about the progress of court cases as well as conduct court orientations and accompany clients to court, providing information to victims regarding agencies available to provide assistance plus establishing and maintaining client files.

Your education will include Completion of grade 12 supplemented by courses in the field of social science including sociology, psychology, criminology or a related discipline, plus considerable related experience in a police environment, victim services program, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have considerable knowledge of the rules and regulations governing program activities; practices and techniques of crisis intervention and follow-up support; principles, practices and terminology used in documenting client contacts and maintaining related files; and sound knowledge of available community resources. You will also have the ability to provide field training, guidance, and assistance to volunteers; prepare records related to the work as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.

Enhanced Reliability Status required. (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $29.16 - $34.29 per hour (2018 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work Monday to Friday 8:00am ??? 4:00pm; non-standard hours and/or non-standard work week.
