The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Development Engineering Technologist to join our team of professionals in the Community Division, Development Engineering Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Development Engineering, you will be responsible in this unionized position for administering assigned development projects; performing site inspections, assessing and advising applicants on the adequacy of municipal services or requirements; as well as reviewing and checking working drawings for all infrastructure and legal requirements. You will also conduct or review standard engineering tests, and establish and maintain liaison with a variety of internal and external contacts as well as maintaining a variety of reports, records, and related documents. You will also assist municipal staff with review of erosion and sediment control plans, site inspection and assess compliance with the Erosion and Sediment Control Bylaw.

Your education will include graduation from an Institute of Technology with a Diploma in Engineering Technology, plus considerable related experience preferably in a municipal setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have thorough knowledge of municipal engineering principles, standards, methods and techniques and of the applicable engineering policies, procedures, standards and by laws; considerable knowledge of municipal engineering practices, including their application to project design and in the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, contract documents and related material. You will also have considerable knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in the construction of municipal infrastructures and of survey methods and functions, and sound knowledge of the functions and responsibilities of various internal departments and external agencies as related to the work performed.

??? Certification or eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist within the Province of British Columbia

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $36.91 - $43.62 per hour (5 steps, 2015 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.
