Job Description: The Development Services Department is looking for an experienced and customer service focused individual to join the building inspection team on a full-time basis. As a member of the team, you will review building and construction plans, issue building permits and perform on-site building inspections.
Duties: Under the supervision and direction of the Building Inspection Supervisor, you will ensure that design and materials used during the construction, renovation and alteration of buildings within the Community are compliant with the provisions set out in the BC Building Code, specifically Part 9, BC Plumbing Code, Mission’s Zoning Bylaw, other municipal bylaws, policies and procedures.
Educational Requirements: You will have completed grade 12 and possess a Diploma in Building Technology from a recognized technical institute or you will have experience at the journeyman level in one of the building trades. You will also have BOABC Level Two (2) Certification or you will have passed the BOABC Level Three (3) examination with certification pending upon completion of the (4) years’ work experience requirement. Candidates with Plumbing Level One (1) Certification is a definite asset.

With a confident and composed demeanor in all work situations, you will have the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with a broad variety of stakeholders.
Salary: The current hourly wage range is $43.96 to $46.92 commensurate with the level of BOABC certification achieved plus a comprehensive benefit package and a commitment to ongoing training and career development. This position is 70 hours bi-weekly on a 9-day fortnight (extended hours for 9 days and 1 day off every two weeks).
Additional Information: A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and a clean driving record are also required.
