The Township of Langley is currently recruiting a temporary full-time (from approx. August 28, 2017 to approx. August 31, 2018) Engineering Technician to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Transportation Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Transportation Engineering you will be responsible in this unionized position for preparing technical reports on engineering topics including plans, estimates and specifications for routine construction and maintenance projects; performing technical work in analysis, design, calculations and documentation for minor construction for transportation and road projects that may involve water, sewer, drainage, electronic or electrical systems; You will also make field investigations and inspections on minor transportation engineering projects as required.

Your education will include graduation from an Institute of Technology with a Diploma in Civil and Structural Technology, plus sound related experience preferably in a Municipal setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of engineering terminology, materials, equipment, practices and techniques; knowledge of engineering mathematics and of Municipal engineering plans, specifications, contract documents and data related to the work, budgeting and standard costing procedures, as well as knowledge of computer applications and capabilities as related to the work performed is necessary. You will have ability to review, analyze, assess and interpret plans, specifications, and contracts; ability to deal effectively and tactfully and maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts; and ability to prepare and maintain reports, records, correspondence and various other materials related to the work.

The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $30.09 - $35.43 per hour (5 steps, 2015 rates), plus 12.4% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.
