Are you a skilled journeyman mechanic with a passion for customer service and teamwork? We have an exciting opportunity for skilled mechanical work at the journeyman level in the maintenance and repair of equipment.

The incumbent performs general mechanical overhaul and maintenance work on a wide variety of construction and maintenance equipment and directs the work of assistants in the overhaul or repair of mobile equipment, using electronic diagnostic equipment for computerized systems. The incumbent works under the general supervision of a supervisor who evaluates performance in terms of quality of service provided and adherence to established standards of performance.

In this role you will:

??? Overhaul and maintain a wide variety of Automotive and Heavy Duty equipment such as road sweepers, backhoes, motors, graders, trucks and diesel and gas engines;
??? Direct the work of assistants in the overhaul or repair of mobile equipment;
??? Use computerized diagnostic equipment for analysis of computerized equipment and systems;
??? Undertake preventive maintenance inspection of equipment and prepare written reports of condition and provide recommendations for corrective action.

In order to be considered for this position you must have Grade 12 plus a current British Columbia Trades Qualification in Heavy Duty, Automotive or Commercial Transport Mechanics; a minimum of 2 years??? experience in the trade; BC Certificate of Apprenticeship; BC Certificate of Qualification; a valid Class 3 B.C. Drivers Licence with Air Endorsement, and a valid Certificate for Commercial Vehicle Inspection Permits.

This position is unionized, C.U.P.E Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $28.16 to $33.11 per hour (2015 rates). In addition the City of Abbotsford offers a comprehensive benefits package.
