The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Police Accounts Clerk to join our team of professionals in the Protective Services - RCMP Division; Administration Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Business Support Police Services, you will be responsible in this unionized position for preparing a variety of accounting and statistical documents such as financial statements, inventory listings and Detachment budgetary statements; receiving and approving requests for various supplies and equipment; checking invoices for accuracy, and verifying receipt of goods or completion of service. You will be responsible for accounts payable and receivables; maintaining member service files, processing benefit documents and related records; answering enquiries and providing assistance to members concerning a variety of benefits and pay related matters. In addition you will be responsible for ensuring all office equipment, telephone systems and furniture is in good working order.

Your education will include completion of grade 12 including or supplemented by commercial, accounting and purchasing courses plus sound clerical experience involving the use of personal computers and related software applications, preferably in a Police environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The successful candidate will have considerable knowledge of Detachment rules, regulations, policies and procedures; along with sound knowledge of modern business office practices and procedures, business English and arithmetic. In addition knowledge of applicable Detachment filing, record keeping and payroll procedures, account and budget classifications; purchasing and invoicing systems and procedures is necessary. You will have the ability to perform assigned duties under minimal supervision, exercising sound judgment while making decisions in accordance with applicable rules, regulations and policies. The ability to deal courteously and tactfully with RCMP members, municipal staff and other external RCMP contacts is a priority.

RCMP reliability status is required. (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $25.61 - $30.99 per hour (5 steps, 2015 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am ??? 4:00pm; non-standard hours and/or non-standard work week.
