The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Roads Operations Superintendent to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Roads Operations Department.

Successful candidates will have direct hands-on supervisory, technical and administrative experience in planning, assigning, inspecting and supervising directly and through subordinates the work of crews engaged in roads maintenance, installation, and repair and clean up tasks. Experience in contract administration in the areas of road maintenance, construction, operational planning, design, estimating, inspection, and maintenance functions for roads, boulevards and traffic systems and related facilities is a must. This position is also responsible for resolving problems, answering inquiries and complaints from the public, developers, consultants and other regulatory agencies and for providing information and technical assistance on related matters.

Other responsibilities include staff selection, coaching, and training; as well as development of annual and seasonal maintenance programs, scheduling work flow, organizing crews to meet emergency and priority situations, budget preparation and day to day administration of the Collective Agreement. This position requires experience in the preparation of tender documents, specifications, reports and related correspondence.

Excellent human relations and communication skills, both written and oral, are required to ensure close liaison with staff, contractors, other municipal departments and the public. Completion of a Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma supplemented by management courses along a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience obtained in a municipal engineering or a municipal consulting engineering company is required.
