Job Description: Reporting to the Utilities Engineer, you will perform a variety of technical work related to water distribution, sewage collection, waterworks and sewage pump stations & controls and other related equipment and facilities. Activities required include data analyses, cost estimates, analysis of water & sanitary pump stations, assist in preparation of specifications, implementation of water conservation program, conducting investigations, writing letters & memos, construction supervision for assigned projects and other duties as assigned.
Duties: The incumbent will be responsible for performing technical work related to utilities which include water distribution, sewage collection, waterworks and sewage pump stations and controls; drainage works; and other related equipment and facilities. Technical work includes conducting investigation, surveys, inspection, analysis of data, designs, specifications, drawings, cost estimates and reports, and recommending standards for municipal work and for private work related or controlled by municipal bylaws.

The incumbent will also make recommendations for work programs, assist in the preparation of budgets, attend committee and other meetings as and when required; write letters, prepare purchase orders, certify invoices and claims for payments, monitor expenditures in relation to budget control, keeping records, files and drawings updated and maintaining section filing systems. The incumbent will liaise closely with other sections of the Department, particularly with Superintendents, Supervisors and Utilities Maintenance Crews. The incumbent will provide assistance and technical information to staff, contractors, consultants, utility companies, developers and the general public. Assignments and responsibilities are performed under supervision and performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Utilities Engineer.
Educational Requirements: Must be a graduate of an Institute of Technology in a two (2) year Civil Engineering Technology Program.
Skill Requirements: ??? Minimum of two (2) years of experience or acceptable combination of training & experience;

??? Possession of a valid class 5 B.C. Driver's Licence;

??? Able to communicate effectively;

??? Possession of strong computer skills;

??? Knowledge of computerized hydraulic network analysis.
