The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time Drafting Technician to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Engineering and Construction Services Department.

Reporting to the Engineering Services Manager, you will be responsible in this unionized position for performing skilled drafting tasks in the preparation of preliminary and final design drawings and as-built drawings for a variety of Municipal engineering projects and proposals such as waterworks, sewers, roads, local improvements, land development and subdivisions. You will liaise with engineering survey and design staff on assigned projects; review master legal plans, as-built plans and related departmental records and databases; and prepare sketches and other graphic material to illustrate engineering projects for public presentation and/or Council reports. The successful candidate will also perform mathematical calculations, take off quantities, issue plans for construction and as required, operate and maintain plotters, orders office supplies; as well as prepare and maintain a variety of files, records, and reports related to the work.

Your education will include completion of grade 12 supplemented by courses in computer assisted drafting and related subjects at an institute of technology plus sound drafting experience preferably within the municipal engineering field or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge and experience with Civil3D and AutoCAD drafting software, computer assisted design drafting methods, practices and techniques; sound knowledge of departmental policies, standards, practices, procedures, rules and regulations; and a working knowledge of land surveying and elementary engineering practices and procedures; and of computer software related to the work performed is necessary.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $30.09 - $35.43 per hour (5 steps, 2015 rates), plus 12.4% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.
