We are seeking a self-motivated and skilled maintenance professional to join our team as Trades I Parks Maintenance & Buildings in our Parks, Recreation and Culture Department. In this busy and physically demanding role you will perform routine maintenance and repair of the City???s Parks, buildings, structures, equipment and playgrounds. Additional responsibilities include assisting in planning and implementing special maintenance projects, preparing estimates, sketches and takeoffs for a variety of park maintenances tasks as well as monitoring work done by contractors and outside agencies as assigned.

Your considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices used in building and park maintenance and repair along with building codes, safety and other regulations will make you an asset to the team. You will utilize your training and experience to operate, repair and maintain a variety of tools, equipment and machinery. Leadership skills and training will be essential as you direct and assist employees engaged in a variety of building and parks maintenance tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, roofing and concrete-finishing and janitorial duties. Your strong relationship building, communication and critical thinking skills will guide your success in this position.

As the Trades I Parks Maintenance & Buildings you will have:
??? Grade 12 education, supplemented by courses in carpentry, plumbing, park and playground inspection and repair, building and park maintenance and introductory supervisory skills training.
??? A minimum of two years??? experience working in the building and park maintenance field including directing the work of others.
??? Valid BC Drivers Licence.
??? Canadian Playground Safety Inspection Certification.

This position is unionized, C.U.P.E Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $25.23 to $29.69 per hour (2015 rates).
