The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx. May 1, 2017 to approx. March 30, 2018) Technical Assistant to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Water Resources and Environment Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Water Resources and Environment, you will be responsible in this unionized position for assisting with collecting and analyzing water data, performing routine field work related to water resources and utility projects, assisting with generating graphics and maps for reports and presentations and assisting with public outreach and education programs. You will perform miscellaneous duties associated with the work such as entering data obtained from site visits and resident contacts, recording progress and difficulties encountered, carrying out junior drafting work, managing databases, preparing statistical reports, and other related tasks as may be determined from time to time.

Your education will include completion of the first year of an undergraduate degree or diploma in Earth Science, Environmental Studies, Geography, and/or Engineering. Work experience in a municipal government or private engineering firm is an asset. You will have a good working knowledge of earth science, and/or engineering terminology, materials, equipment, practices and techniques. You have the ability to prioritize and schedule tasks to meet deadlines, compile and analyze statistics related to the work, to communicate effectively with others orally and in writing, and have skills in the use of computer and drafting equipment and related software.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $24.59 - $28.90 per hour (5 steps, 2015 rates), plus 12.4% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.
