Overview

Reporting to the Park Facility Operations Manager, this position is responsible for directing the work of contractors, volunteers and City staff involved in the maintenance and operation of park structures within the city of Surrey park system.

Responsibilities

As a Parks Superintendent (Structures), you will:

??? Be responsible for planning, organizing and supervising structural operational activities in city parks
??? Ensure the budgeted programs are effectively implemented and achieved
??? Prepare operational and related capital budgets
??? Prepare contract specifications and ensure that procurement is carried out in accordance with City policies and procedures
??? Coordinate projects and programs
??? Participate in long-range park structures planning
??? Develop, recommend and implement procedures and practices
??? Resolve complaints from the public and others
??? Hire, promote and discipline employees within a unionized environment
??? Review and manage employee performance
??? Administer employee testing and training
??? Participate on City committees as required

Qualifications
As a successful applicant, you will have the following:
??? Completion of post-secondary training in building trades, building technology, construction project management, advanced trades training, or other structures-related discipline
??? Minimum of 7 years of related and progressive experience
??? An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
??? Strong interpersonal skills and proven leadership abilities
??? Considerable experience in supervision, employee relations, fiscal management, and park operations is essential for success in this role
??? Advanced understanding of park operations, related to park structural assets
Proven and effective ability to successfully resolve issues and conflicts that arise daily
