The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular part-time Recreation Leader to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture, and Parks Division; Recreation Facilities and Programs Department.

Reporting to the Community Recreation Programmer, you will be responsible in this unionized position for assisting a supervisor in planning, developing, and scheduling specific recreation programs, services and special events; directing the implementation of program activities; providing leadership and instruction; assessing program results and recommending changes as necessary. You will also be responsible for assigning and supervising the work of auxiliary staff; providing orientation and training; and participating in the selection and evaluation of staff. We are looking for an individual passionate for community recreation and its ability to build individuals and communities to be active and healthy for life.

Your education will include completion of a two year program in Recreation at a recognized Community College and some related community recreation experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The successful candidate will have sound knowledge of the recreational needs and interests of the area served, and knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of community recreation programs. High Five Certificate, Fundamental Movement Skills Certificate and experience working in a community recreation facility would be considered assets.

Emergency First Aid and CPR certification and a valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside is required. A current Driver???s Abstract (select the 5 years??? option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date below must be uploaded with your application in order to be considered for this opportunity and in order for your application to be complete. This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a criminal record check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $24.59 - $28.90 per hour (5 steps, 2015 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 11:30am ??? 4:30pm; non-standard hours and/or non-standard work week.
