The Township of Langley seeks applicants on an ongoing basis to augment auxiliary positions for Recreation Worker IV ???Fitness Room Attendant and Recreation Worker VI ??? Personal Trainer or Recreation Worker VI - Kinesiologist to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture and Parks Division, Recreation Facilities and Programs Department.

Recreation Worker IV ??? Fitness Room Attendant - Reporting to the Health & Fitness Programmer, you will be responsible in this unionized position for supervisory and instructional duties in the fitness centre, including supervision of customers, fitness centre orientations, and general clean-up. You will also assist in program development for health and fitness, assist with newsletters and bulletin boards, ensure safe and proper use of equipment and facilities. You will provide information and advice to the public regarding programs and facilities, ensuring observance of regulations governing public conduct as well as preparing and maintaining records and activity reports.

Your education will include completion of Grade 12 and courses in community recreation, leadership and/or conflict resolution, and sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Emergency First Aid, CPR, and BCRPA Weight Trainer ??? Fitness (or equivalent) certifications are required.

The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $21.87 - $25.61 per hour (4 steps; 2015 rates) plus 12.4% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are non-standard and/or non-standard work weeks.

Candidates will also be considered for the following positions, depending upon certifications:

Recreation Worker VI ??? Personal Trainer ??? candidates considered will be responsible in this position for performing one-on-one personal training sessions for clients of all ages and abilities, as well as setting goals and creating training programs for clients.

Your education will include completion of Grade 12 (or equivalent) combined with BCRPA Personal Trainer certification (or equivalent) and related experience in the fitness field.

The rate of pay for this position is $26.00 - $30.00 per hour, plus 4% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are non-standard and/or non-standard work weeks.

Recreation Worker VI ??? Kinesiologist ??? candidates considered will be responsible in this position for performing one-on-one personal training for clients of all ages and abilities, as well as setting goals and creating training programs for clients. In addition, you will perform specialized recreation work involving assessment of clients??? fitness needs and the development of individual rehabilitation, training, and conditioning programs; and preparing reporting and maintaining records.

Combined with related experience in the fitness field, you must be a practicing member of the BC Association of Kinesiologists, or a Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology Certified Exercise Physiologist or equivalent. The ability to work with aquatic rehabilitation clients, ICBC or WorkSafe claims patients is an asset.

The rate of pay for this position is $27.00 - $31.00 per hour, plus 4% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are non-standard and/or non-standard work weeks.
