The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for an Engineering Technologist I - Temporary Full-time (from approx. March 13, 2017 to approx. March 16, 2018) to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Strategic Initiatives Department.

Reporting to the Project Engineer, you will be responsible for liaising and coordinating between operations and consultants and contractors, reviewing tender and project specifications, tender submissions and recommending contract award; performing design and layout work for small to mid-sized project components and assisting with design layout work for larger projects; and reviewing invoices, change orders, and payment claims for accuracy. You will work closely with the facilities and other staff in the engineering department in executing HVAC and lighting related projects, performing site inspections, writing scope of work for proposals and tender documents, and preparing and delivering project related presentations.

Your education will include graduation from an Institute of Technology with a Diploma in Mechanical Technology or Building Sciences, including or supplemented by courses in commercial building HVAC and project management, plus sound related experience preferably in a municipal setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual who can manage multiple short-term and long-term projects simultaneously; is well organized, able to communicate effectively, and has a comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in construction of municipal infrastructure.

Registration or eligibility for registration as a Graduate Technologist within the Province of British Columbia as well as having a valid Class 5 (full privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside is required. A current Driver???s Abstract (select the 5 years??? option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date below must be uploaded with your application in order to be considered for this opportunity and in order for your application to be complete. The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $32.63 - $38.52 per hour (5 steps, 2015 rates), plus 12.4% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am ??? 4:30pm.
